An atlas made for exploration

brain.studio is an open-source, interactive 3D atlas of the human brain, built for neuroscience education. It combines deep-linkable anatomical region pages, functional-network views of distributed systems, and evidence-backed topic exhibits on a neutral studio backdrop.

Editorial status

Topic exhibits are educational and non-diagnostic. Each exhibit carries a visible stub, draft, or reviewed status. Stub entries are placeholders. Draft entries await owner review. Reviewed entries record completed owner review. These labels record the internal editorial stage and do not claim independent expert review or clinical endorsement.

Data sources

The 3D anatomy is derived from the NIH 3D Print Exchange Human Reference Atlas brain model (3DPX-020959), which incorporates the Allen Brain Reference Atlas and the Visible Human Project, licensed CC-BY 4.0. Brainstem nuclei coordinates are derived from the Harvard Ascending Arousal Network atlas and the associated literature. Interaction and educational framing are inspired by BrainFacts.org; no assets are reproduced from it.

Generated imagery

Clinical-metaphor images were generated with Google Imagen 4. They are AI-generated illustrations, not photographs or medical scans, and must not be used for diagnosis.
